Using Hypnosis to Improve Your Self-Confidence

For many individuals, self-confidence and high self-esteem can be elusive. This elusiveness is driven by negative thought patterns about oneself, one’s abilities, and one’s worth. When we have unhealthy thoughts about ourselves, it may cause us to second guess or avoid certain decisions, situations, and people. As a result, we miss out on many valuable opportunities. While these negative thought patterns and self-confidence issues can be alleviated through behavioral therapy, our efforts go a step further with hypnotherapy. Also known as hypnosis, hypnotherapy is perhaps the most effective way to help with low self-esteem and self-confidence. Discover more about this powerful confidence-boosting practice below.

How Hypnosis Addresses Issues with Self-Confidence

Issues with self-confidence and negative thought patterns exist in the subconscious, or unconscious mind. Hypnosis taps into the unconscious thoughts we’d otherwise be unable to access through suggestion. Then, it allows us to remove or reframe them. In other words, hypnosis seeks out the roots of negative behaviors or thought patterns, and essentially addresses and cures them. Since low self-esteem is a learned response developed through repetitive negative or overly critical thoughts, hypnotherapy can be used to remove this repetition. Thus, it ultimately changes the way you think and feel about yourself. Self-confidence is flexible, so new, positive self-talk can be introduced to help you improve or readjust your approach as needed. The more positive you are about yourself and your abilities, the more comfortable, capable and confident you become.

Confidence Hypnosis

Confidence hypnosis is simply hypnotherapy designed to improve self-confidence and self-esteem. Generally, there are three forms of this hypnotherapy: self-hypnosis, guided hypnotherapy, and one-on-one therapeutic sessions. The most effective and direct approach is to seek out one-on-one therapy from a certified hypnotherapist, like myself. When I provide hypnotherapy, Edmonton men and women receive expert guidance and a personalized experience. I create a plan that uncovers the roots of your confidence issues, addresses negative thought patterns and self-talk, and eventually, boosts your self-confidence.

How the Sessions Work

Therapy for low self-esteem and self-confidence is a process that includes several steps. These steps are taken both during and after therapy sessions. Initial sessions start with a bit of talk therapy. Your therapist might ask you to do several things, such as:

  • Define who you are
  • State what you think about yourself
  • Analyze the emotions you feel when thinking about yourself, your abilities, and your achievements
  • Compare your thoughts about yourself to your thoughts about others
  • Examine your anxieties and barriers
  • Talk about your hopes, dreams, and goals for the future

Using the findings from these discussions, your therapist will uncover the triggers for certain emotions, self-doubt, overly critical thinking, and so forth. Next, you’ll be put in a highly relaxed but hyper-aware state of consciousness. Your therapist will guide you with verbal instructions. While these instructions are generally given directly by your therapist, they may also be provided as a recording so you can self-practice. The instructions will include positive self-talk that counteracts negative thought patterns, behaviors, and beliefs.
